Wooyoungmi-Spring 2011

I do love Woo. I posted earlier on an interview by designer Wooyoungmi in which she states that she would not be the best women's wear designer, but that she can design for men because she has an idea of what she would like to see men wear without being influenced by the impulse to design something that would look good on herself. What I see in her Spring collection is an elegant, sophisticated, feeling of youth. See the collection HERE at Fashionisto. I'm enjoying the height on the shoes and the carrying-cases by the side. But the green jacket is my favorite.

Qasimi S/S 2011

I was not as moved by this Qasimi collection. It didn't really get me imagination going too much. However, there are some creative cuts and some standout pieces. For me, those pieces are the jumpsuits. The collection on a whole was very sporty--perhaps more than I was expecting. See more HERE at Definitive Touch.

Songzio S/S 2011

I'm not usually a fan of the over exaggerated draping and billowing effect in men's fashion. However, for the Spring/Summer 2011 collection, Songzio shows how the style and technique can be controlled and manipulated to deliver a much more pleasing look. Check out the jumpsuit in pic number two.

Romain Kremer S/S 2011

Romain Kremer amped up the color in places in another exciting and oftentimes provocative collection--futuristic sportswear that's bound to turn heads. Pics from 160g and Homotography.

Gaspard Yurkievich-Spring 2011

Gaspard Yurkievich gives us Spring 2011. And, you know, I have no problem with the idea of parachuting into Downtown. It's a novel idea and the utilitarian bags do serve a solid purpose. I also enjoy the rugged cutoffs that are layered under the polished shorts. Pics from Fashionisto

Yves Saint Laurent S/S 2011

Yves Saint Laurent offers a study of segments by emphasizing top, middle, and bottom using bands around the mid-section in the Spring/Summer 2011 collection. Love the idea.

Kris Van Assche-Spring 2011

Kris Van Assche: what can I say--cool sophistication. These are two of my favorite looks from the Spring 2011 runway show by Van Assche. The shirt has a color and texture of blue I can't help but enjoy. Same goes for the black jacket and the pieces across the waist--sharp.  See the collection on his site HERE.

10a Suspended Trousers

10a is a small enterprise out of Italy that makes these great Suspended Trousers. What I like about them is that the two pieces look to be one. See more and read about the 10a team HERE on Style Savage (pics from same).

Bobby Charles Abley--recent fashion grad

Bobby Charles Abley put on a show at the graduate exhibition for Ravensbourne. His collection was a touch of nostalgia used to push menswear forward. It looks like he may soon be working with boundary expanding predecessor, Vivienne Westwood, on elaborating and possibly reworking some of his ideas in his collection themed "Make Me a Superhero." See photos from the collection and show, like those below, on Style Savage HERE. There, you can also read an interview with the designer. What I like most from Abley's collection is the harness-tie. I wanna rock that to work one day soon. Why not?

Phenomenon 2010 A/W Collection--Japan

Phenomenon is a brand out of Harajuku, Tokyo. Their focus is on streetwear and this collection has a samurai--traditional--spin to it. The samurai look can be spotted in the jackets and coats in particular. These three I enjoy most in the collection. Phenomenon is somewhat of a "insiders" outfit, making it hard to find any info on the brand or its shop in Harajuku. However, you can see the pics from Phenomenon's debut at the 10th annual Japan Fashion Week HERE--and read a bit more about the company.

Giuliano Fujiwara S/S 2011

Guiliano Fujiwara S/S 2011 Collection Video.
For me, it's all about these shoes--they're like hightop-boot hybrids. As for the pieces: the more I look, the more I like. I get a sense of tension that is being created with use of color contrast, texture, and scale.

Cedric Jacquemyn designs shot by Yves De Brabander

Cedric Jacquemyn is a designer who is heavily influenced by surroundings--particularly nature. He has collaborated with photographer Yves De Brabander on several occasions to document and shoot his designs in corresponding settings. This shoot was inspired by the natural settings of Iceland. Entitled  "The Last Glacier" it shows volcanic eruption taking place on location--the type of eruption that has been a downer for air travel in parts of Europe due to ash. Beautiful images from Homotography

MSGM Fall/Winter 2010

Italian brand MSGM Fall/Winter 2010.
I'm enjoying the layering of the plaid on top of the yellow and gray cardigan. I'm a fan of the MSGM cardigans--they had many in the Spring/Summer collection. Pic from Definitive Touch.

Burberry Prorsum Spring 2011

Burberry Prorsum turned up the heat with a sexy Spring 2011 collection at Milan Fashion Week. What this collection is about for me is the leather--jackets, pants, boots. See the full collection HERE at Style.com. You will find the runway video below too.

Update: Jil Sander

Now, pictures are online of the Jil Sander Men's S/S 2011 collection runway show that took place in Florence as part of Pitti Uomo. I previously posted stills from the webcast, but you can now see the entire collection HERE at Style.com. Unfortunately, what you don't get to see are the backs of the jackets which are of most importance. To see those details, be sure to check out the full video (BELOW) or look to the right of the pics to see the sashes of color on the back of the jackets.
