Too Cool: Maximum Impact in Fantasticmag

This look was styled by Salem.  It's one of the best looks I have seen in awhile. So cool.

Vest by Greta Constantine
Kilt and face mask by Northbound Leather
Leggings by Gareth Pugh
Boots by John Fleuvog

The exaggerated collar of the vest is great and would actually function quite nicely in cold weather. The Jackson Pollock style leggings would work great on their own, but very nice with the asymmetric kilt.

The Layers of Tim Van Steenbergen

Tim Van Steengergen is a designer based in Antwerp, Belgium. When I look at his work, I think of the concept of a uniform for life with an emphasis on LIFE. Layerd up and ready for anything but with a very mellow approach and demeanor. Tim Van Steengergen's work is true artisanship. These are a few of my favorite looks and pieces. See the entire AW collection on the designers site.

Athletic pairings

I am becoming a big fan of pairing items that you normally would not do to give a surprise and sometimes dramatic effect. the Dior Homme Cardigan with the adidas shorts and the Reebok football pants with the Dior Jacket are prime examples. I may suggest placing a shirt under the jacket. But why not defy the logical and get some curious looks your way?

David Arnot took the photos for this shoot. See the full shoot HERE

Hercules 7: Kai Z. Feng

Great shoot done by Photographer Kai Z. Feng for Hercules Mag #7. There's a vibe of movement in the spread and I think it is great that Feng used b/w and color. Great shots.

And the styling is fantastic with the use of some Jil Sanders, Dior Homme, and THE GLOVES featured are right on. It's getting chilly out, and we will probably be seeing more gloves in shoots to come this season.

Hercules 7 out soon

Richard Phibbs for L'Equipe

This shoot was done for French sports magazine L’Equipe by photographer Richard Phibbs. It's riding gear featuring Boots and Jackets, and horses. The Jil Sander jacket (above) is featured.

Richard Phibbs has worked with many well known people and organizations. He has even photographed Hillary Clinton and his work is collected by folks including Anderson Cooper. If you don't already know of his work, CHECK OUT HIS SITE HERE. It's fantastic stuff.

Raf Simons/Jil Sander in CE

The first photo shows the Raf Simon suit worn along with the outerwear feature of the quarter jacket. The photo gives a closer look at this new accessory.

The second photo uses the Jil Sander jacket against an ornate backdrop. If you did not know the jacket already, yo might think the geometric effects on it to be caused by shadow or reflection of some sort. However, no effects, it's all jacket. The design is very geometrically minded and the use of this jacket against the wall with the hint at shadow is very smart.

Check out the full spread HERE.

ISAACYMANU: building the brand

Isaacymanu is a  brand that is realatively new, but in the process of building it's name and brand image. Still, you can find their clothes ONLINE thru various channels including their official online shop.

The designers are originally from Spain but got the fashion start in Paris.

The team takes inspiration from origami, geometry, and even icebergs (among other things). And it does show in their work. The use of shapes and colors gives it a modern, street style, edge. Two of my favorite pieces are above, both available (reasonably priced) in the Isaacymanu online store (link below). Check out their site, too.

Paul Smith Coat in VMAN

The coat has a very narrow waist that sort of takes a bell shape as it tapers at the thighs (from VMAN 15). Very similar to that of the Raf Simons design for Jil Sander (below). It has a knightly feel a bit like an armor jacket. Again, THE BELL SHAPE...

VMAN Photo by Klaus Thymann (click name for site) Klaus has a very cool site. He is a most famous photo man and videographer.
