Martine Rose Spring/Summer 2013

What I enjoy most about the Martine Rose Spring/Summer 2013 collection, as presented on the runway, is probably the neoprene hood/mask. I love the fact the the designer isn't afraid to cover the face of her models, and in a way that incorporates the story of the collection--in this case, the tale of the rape of Persephone. But I also enjoy the use of non-tradtional materials, overall: as seen in the shorts and the jacket below; oh, and not to mention the pants. Even more enjoyable are the finger prints you can see if you look really close at the blue jacket--fantastic. See more of collection HERE on Vogue UK.

AJ Mets Fall 2013: Jacket and Shorts

There is something about this look that just works for me. From AJ Mets Fall 2013 Collection "Imaginary Youth" offers a modern feel, with interesting prints and some bold colors. I enjoy the look, here, because of the color, and the styling (the socks, shoes, with those shorts), but I think the most important aspect of the entire look is the proportions: this is really wonderful, and a feat to pull off due to the fact that you have a jacket matched with a short; the basic white shirt, buttoned all the way, also helps keep the balance. And I enjoy the asymmetry of the jacket; however, my main question is: does it zip. It might be a tight fit if it did, but the illusion--they way the zipper works the eye--is cool, anyway. "Cool Cat:" August Man Magazine

I enjoy using accessories in new and creative ways, like in this edit entitled "Cool Cat" below: Styled by Jonathan Mahaut and shot by Anthony Meyer for Malaysian magazine August Man, Mahaut takes a v-line suspender, and flips it to the front so that V becomes seen, and creates just enough peculiarity that leaves an impression. See more of the shoot HERE.

Tadas by Rex Leung

Something about the seriously short length of these shorts that I like. But I'm also enjoying the shoulder on the sleeveless jacket. This is a fantastic summer uniform--could even go sans boots, but w/ a little loafer or slip-on. See more of this shoot shot by Rex Leung on Morphosis.

"The Great Pretender" on Fashionisto

So, the Michael Kors leather jacket is cool, but, for me, it's all about the face mask. I want to wear mine to the office tomorrow--why not? See more of this shoot by Laura Marie Cieplik for Fashionisto story "The Great Pretender" HERE

NudeMM Fall/Winter 2013

Masahiko Maruyama's NudeMM Fall/Winter 2013 collection offers a great array of shapes and volume, and also a little bit of texture. There is something about the way these pieces rest that help give a sense of character to what might otherwise be dull pieces--but these pieces are not dull at all; there's something hidden in the lines, something understated, yet pretty deep. I get a touch of the nomad, with a touch of the philosopher, and a hint of the Middle East. See for yourself HERE on ThisHeartsOnFire.

Custo Barcelona Fall/Winter 2013

I always enjoy it when I take a second look at a collection, and see it in better depth and detail. That's what has happened with the latest from Custo Barcelona. I didn't flat out hate the looks and pieces the first time, but it took a while before it clicked. I think such a state might make for a good collection; it takes time to understand really good, and complicated pieces. The pieces in the Custo Barcelona collection are diverse in color, texture, cut, and print--and the prints are wild. Yet when paired together, it all works to deliver an idea: one the is culturally diverse in part, and yet delivers a military essence coupled with classicism. Eclectic. There is something forward-thinking here, and I believe that as the weeks and months pass, I'll grow to enjoy this collection even more so. See it all HERE.

General Idea Fall/Winter 2013

Nice and sporty look from General Idea Fall/Winter 2013. Of course, I'm drawn to the blue. But I really enjoy the way the blue line is used to etch out some detail in this jacket. It's almost like a drawing, giving a touch of movement to the piece. I'm also a fan of the asymmetric zip. See more of the collection HERE on FuckingYoung!

Allan Vos 2013

This, to me, reads historical futurism. I'm enjoying these pieces by Allan Vos for his latest collection: just recently seen at Amsterdam Fashion Week. The collection works nicely in the outdoors setting--estate vibe. And I enjoy the cut and asymmetrical fold seen in both the short and long jackets. Styled by Juan Velazquez Caceres and photographed by Martijn Senders. See more HERE on Fashionisto.

Songzio Fall/Winter 2013

Tight and fitted suits with a look of being eroded: the Songzio Fall/Winter 2013 collection creates a feel of decadent decay with these leather suits. I enjoy the gold tones that come from underneath the distressed material on the black jacket below. See more HERE on Totem Fashion.

Dior Homme Fall/Winter 2013

Slick. Future. Dior Homme F/W 2013 keeps it simple and slightly militaristic with creative director Kris Van Assche. I enjoy the use of the belt to accentuate the waist; and of course I like the metallic glimmer. Very interesting graphics, too, on several of the pieces. See more HERE on Fashionisto.

Walter Van Beirendonck F/W 2013--"Shut Your Eyes to See"

This is my favorite look from Walter Van Beirendonck F/W 2013 collection, "Shut Your Eyes to See." What I enjoy is, of course, the glitter. Yes, it sparkles, but it also has texture and depth. I'm also very curious as to the material of the pants and the shirt: it has somewhat of a vinyl look, or maybe a very soft leather. Perhaps it's an eco-friendly material?  Whatever it may be, I like it; and the overall look is exquisite. See more HERE.

John Richmond F/W 2013

John Richmond has a way for designing cool without trying too hard--as it should be. That's the case with the designer's Fall/Winter 2013 collection. I enjoy the leather accents and the embellishments added to the jackets that give a feeling of strength and intrigue . See more HERE.

Custo Barcelona Spring/Summer 2013

Patterns and colors come bursting off the runway as part of Custo Barcelona's Spring/Summer 2013 collection. There's a good deal of vivid and booming pattern, color, and texture being used in fashion at the moment. This is good, but it's even better when fanciful creations actually obtain harmonious ground; Custo Barcelona has done just that, particularly with the darker graphics. These looks are playful yet smart. Next Spring might be even more brilliantly deranged than the last. See more of Custo Barcelona's S/S 2013 collection, HERE on FuckingYoung!

Rxandy Capinpin for Status and Manilla Bulletin

Two striking pieces photographed by Rxandy Capinpin. The first is major headgear, styled by Red Mil for Status mag in the Philippines (shoot "East of Eden). The next is a white jacket, with sleeves featuring pyramid studs (shoot "One Directioner"), styled by Ryuji Shiomitsu.

"Doheny Drive" by Doug Inglish

Definitely some Brando being channeled in this Beverly Hills/Hollywood entitled set by Doug Inglish for Numero Homme China #5--"Doheny Drive." This is just a great shot with the chain, and a bit of a peek-a-boo shot underneath. See more of the shoot HERE on SissyDude.

Mike Quyen--Lookbook

Mike Quyen's look for "xquisite" I find very enjoyable. Mostly I'm taken by the use of safety pins to create the almost beehive or birds nest effect. And the cross on the collar gives it that kick of moody, Gothic depth. I can only imagine how long it took to create the piece. I've pinned safety pins to a jacket just at the collar before, and it took hours--but nothing close to the number it seems Mike used here. Well behaved dalmatian.

10/10--"Only Young Once!" collection

When I think of designs that work to push the envelope while still being quite wearable, this is what I have in mind. 10/10 (ten out of ten) collection "Only Young Once!." I'm instinctively drawn to the geometric, asymmetric, as well as symmetric shapes and details . Yet, even while creating layers of interest via stacked and exaggerated affixes, the pieces aren't "bulky" or too big: they retain a streamlined, fitted feel and look. The pieces and looks have the blend I enjoy between edgy and urbane; past and future. This collection is simply speaking my language--I want these pieces for the stage, or perhaps as street armor. See more of the 10/10 collection HERE.
