Nude:mm Homme Spring/Summer 2014

Nude:mm is a line out of Japan. What I enjoy about the design and pieces is the easiness of it all: it's simplistic, natural, yet modern and edgy. Actually, I think another thing going for Nude's S/S 2014 collection is a balance between light and darkness; it's something to accomplish an airy AND deep quality to a piece, and that feat has been met here by designer Masahiko Maruyama. See more of the Nude:mm Homme S/S 2014 collection HERE.

Tom Rebl Fall/Winter 2013

Tom Rebl takes us on an excursion through a mystical, and smokey, realm of slight whimsy in his Fall/Winter 2013 Lookbook. The Tom Rebl man seems to be a traveler you run into in a dark wood, and you can't tell if you should be scared or happy to have his company. I'm enjoying the prints--both the irregular shapes seen on the black+silver suit as well as the floral number. See more HERE on ThisHeartsOnFire.

NudeMM Fall/Winter 2013

Masahiko Maruyama's NudeMM Fall/Winter 2013 collection offers a great array of shapes and volume, and also a little bit of texture. There is something about the way these pieces rest that help give a sense of character to what might otherwise be dull pieces--but these pieces are not dull at all; there's something hidden in the lines, something understated, yet pretty deep. I get a touch of the nomad, with a touch of the philosopher, and a hint of the Middle East. See for yourself HERE on ThisHeartsOnFire.

Jeremy Scott by Luca Finotti--video

I've watched this video several times without the music--on mute--and am completely taken in. It's so engrossing. Why no music? I guess I figure there is enough going on visually without the added distraction. I just don't think I've seen the use of horizontal edits in such a way--and the colors...It seems to me to be a perfect marriage of image, medium, and edit--ripe for online consumption. Of course, the Jeremy Scott designs give it that extra bit of flavor, but Luca Finotti has really created an eye catching clip with this video.

Uniforms for the Dedicated S/S 2012

Swedish brand Uniforms for the Dedicated  take to the forest to highlight their new, eco-friendly Spring/Summer collection, "The Blue Cone Colony." It's a beautiful setting, with some mist and fog, that suits the earthy yet refined garments like the smart jacket below--with the blue lapel and inner-sleeves. See more of the collection HERE on This.Hearts.On.Fire.

Burberry Prorsum Fall/Winter 2012

Burberry Prorsum accessorizes their men with an edge for A/W 2012--as seen with the studded gloves that I immensely enjoy. I'm also fond of the graphic sweater as well as the coat below. But it is the juxtaposition between the unexpectedly spiked hands and the classy yet youthful refinement of the clothing that I enjoy most.

GMG--S/S 2012

What I enjoy about the pieces by Gabriella Marina Gonzalez is the romantic quality she brings to what could otherwise be very hard edged goods--leathers and studs. The photography by Sarah Piantadosi definitely helps deliver that softening touch. See more of GMG's S/S 2012 collection--"Your Heavy Heart Pressed Against the Dusk"--HERE on this.hearts.on.fire
Also, be sure to check out GMG's other collections on her site.

Yohan Serfaty S/S 2012

A very romantic pose and feel with the white jacket by Yohan Serfaty for his latest collection entitled Ad Vitam--Making for a romantic life. Nice stache and curls, too. I'm also enjoying the way the long gray coat falls. See more of the collection HERE on This.Hearts.On.Fire.

Unconditional Spring/Summer 2012

Unconditional is a bit of an unconventional brand as demonstrated by the pants below: I enjoy the triangular seam at the crotch and don't find it at all off-putting. I'm also enjoying the accessorizing using the spiked holster--and the slicked hair (not to mention the model's facial accessories). The beaded detail on the lapel of the sleeveless jacket is nice as well.

Yoshio Kubo S/S 2012: Tokyo Fashion Week

Tokyo Fashion Week just wrapped up, and these two pieces are from the collection Yoshio Kubo showed for the event. I'm enjoying the black-and-white asymmetrically color blocked jacket as well as the coat with its dot--dashes: as if speaking in code. See more HERE on This.Hearts.On.Fire.

Uncommon Creatures S/S 2012

The last collection for Uncommon Creatures gave us gypsy inspired creations. For the Spring/Summer 2012 collection, Uncommon Creatures looks to the Pathan people of the Afghan and Pakistani mountains. Of course, such lives are spent--a great deal--outdoors. I'm enjoying the setting for the lookbook images as well as the draped head dresses and turban hats (created by hand by Mathilde Forster). See and read more HERE on this.hearts.on.fire.

Matteo Molinari F/W 2011

I've always wanted a matador's jacket--traje de luces (suit of lights)--of my own. I suppose there is something slightly romantic about bullfighting and the life of toreros that I find appealing. Matteo Molinari's Fall/Winter 2011 collection takes some inspiration from the "suit of lights" that toreros wear in the ring--with the high-waist and short jacket. I'm also enjoying the slim black tie. Of course, Molinari has simplified the tradition with use of black and white as well as the idea of gender lines--but the Spanish influence is there. See more HERE on this.hearts.on.fire.

Ports 1961 S/S 2012

Enjoying this sleeveless jacket by Ports 1961 for their S/S 2012 collection. I like for the fact that you don't see sleeveless jackets too often, but also because Ports retain a very simplistic approach to design--and the jacket looks good even with sleeves. Check it out HERE on This.Hearts.On.Fire

Juun J Spring 2012

A futuristic cool--lots of angles and color scales--not to mention some very interesting footwear. This from Juun J for the Korean designer's S/S 2012 collection--one of the more exciting collections this season. I'm also enjoying the use of the bracelets on-wrist. See more from the collection HERE on this.hearts.on.fire.

Unbounded AWE by LayKuni

Some fantastic work coming from designer LayKuni (Won Jung Ku) for the label Unbounded AWE. Just slightly "out there" but with a controlled hand--the pieces are nicely done, tight designs. I'm enjoying the choice of color pallete, stripes/blocks, and some great boots, too. See more from the AWE 2011 A/W collection HERE.

Subfusco: Fall 2012

Subfusco, designed by Joshua Scacheri, presents "The Odyssey" for the label's Fall 2012 collection. I enjoy it for the minimalist factor and intriguing angles. See more HERE on this.hearts.on.fire.

InAisce

I'm enjoying the sense of independent spirit coming from the pieces from InAisce below. The coat is from the f/w 11 collection and the jacket from the s/s 11 collection. I like the asymmetry of both and the overall mood delivered throughout both collections. See more HERE on the InAisce site.

Lina Osterman F/W 2011

Studs and a Peacoat from Lina Osterman for her Fall/Winter 2011 collection. There is an appeal that silver studs have against black--especially a leather jacket--but, I am enjoying the use of studs on the green. It's a bit refreshing. See more from Lina Osterman's collection HERE on This.Hearts.On.fire.

I'm enjoying many of the sweaters in the latest collection from MSGM. See more HERE on this.hearts.on.fire.  A bit of a southwestern feel.

Simon Spurr Fall/Winter 2011

I'm a sucker for hoods and gloves and these looks by Simon Spurr make it look so right--when it could be considered so wrong: paired with suits. I must say, wearing the longer gloves along with a suit works best when said gloves are black. I'm enjoying the detachable hood very much. See more of Simon Spurr's collection F/W 2011 HERE on this.hearts.on.fire.
