Ben Morris for PonyStep

PonyStep Online Magazine has a spread up shot by Photographer Ben Morris. What I like about the work is the sense of place that the photos have. You should check out his website (below) to see more of his great work. You can see this full spread at PonyStep.

Elisabeth Toll, photographer

This shot is fantastic: The trees, the height, the movement, and the black styling.
Photographer: Elisabeth Toll
Toll does great work and I love her play with shadow.

Karim Sadli for Velvet Magazine

December Look from FANTASTIC MAN

Lanvin Suit and Hugo Boss gloves

Bill Tornade: Instant Style

Bill Tornade is great, not only because he has been doing it for so long, but because his collections are always ready to hit the streets. You put his clothes on, and it's instant cool and style. It seems so simple. Tonrade's designs give Men a chance to look as if they have been sharp dressers all their lives. The pics above capture looks from Bill Tornade's AW 2009 collection. The use of boots throughout is nice as is the pop of color here and there with the knit scarfs. You can see the entire collection on Tornade's site. There, you can also see his SS 2010 collection which includes some very light cardigans.

Manuel Albarran

Manuel Albarran's metal couture is sleek, futuristic, and mindful of the past. Albarran has been designing his pieces for sometime now, but his work may be gaining attention due to publication like the DAZEDandCONFUSED ARTICLE this month and the fact that his pieces are featured in the new Lady Gaga video for "Bad Romance." It seems that Albarran thinks of himself as for than just a designer. His pieces are definitely ART: As good as they look on people, they photograph well, and are fine exhibits as stand alone objects.

Thierry Mugler AW Collection and SS 2010 Collection

We love Thierry Mugler because it is about an attitude that says, "I want to be noticed, but don't fuck with me." Or, at least, that's my take on it. For this reason, Autumn Winter collections are always more interesting than Spring and Summer. The coats, the layers, the boots: It's all Killer. These are three of my favorite looks from the AW collection. You can also check out a video of the SS 2010 collection below. As I said, I always find the Fall the most interesting, but if you love color, especially light blues and pinks, you will enjoy the Spring collection, too. The Summer suits steal the show.

Petar Petrov: Simplicity With An Edge

Petar Petrov is based out of Vienna. I'm digging his design for its simplicity that make the looks seem effortless, yet edgy. You can buy Petrov designs from SSENSE (link below) and see his newest collection or check out his site. Brilliant!

Bell Soto and David Samuel Menkes in Visual Tales

I love this pic because it captures such a character and brings it to life. There is a softness that is counter balanced by the leather pants and whip by David Samuel Menkes. To put Menkes' leather wear in a fashion editorial such as this, is brilliant. It puts his work in a completely different light than what you may find on his website (beware, a bit racy).

See Like Me - See Like Me Rare Issue

Characters for Fantasticsmag

Nicole Anne Robbins recently contributed a fantastic spread for none other than Fantasticsmag featuring a fantastic grouping of designer fashions.  My favorite piece is definitely the ASHTON MICHAEL top (black, above). However, Robbins was generous enough to incorporate videos into her spread and the best video is that featuring the designs of LOVA.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt in GQ

The fantastic actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt is pictured in the December issue of GQ sporting cost effective styles from the likes of Gap, Top Man, H&M, Uniqlo, and more. The article is about well made, nicely priced, Recession minded wardrobes. I also believe that Mr. Gordon-Levitt has a couple of movies coming out this Winter Season.

Photo above features Uniqlo: coat, shirt, and pants. Complete look for under $250.

Ana Locking Accessories

Ana Locking is unveiling her line of Accessories including the sunglasses above. I posted a pic of a look featuring her glasses and her "Crimson" Jacket a few weeks ago. Along with glasses, Locking will make available a line of shoes for the ladies, too. But, I'm loving the shades.

Check it out at the SITE HERE

Bernhard Willhelm in 10 Men

Bernhard Willhelm is an interesting guy and an interesting designer. The winter issue of 10 Men gives a look at the designer modeling some of his own designs, some Westwood, and answering 10 questions. I picked the photo above from the spread because of its dance like movement captured as well as the great top ( by Willhelm) and huge boots by Sete Leguas.Very fun.

Joey Kirchner Photo

I like this photo because of its aged quality. However, I only know that the model is Joey Kirchner. I do not know the photographer, but would love to find out. What caught my eye is the jacket: slightly military in style. But, more importantly, Check out the PANTS. Are those pants? I believe that those are some very structurally interesting trousers. But, I do not know how old this pic is. Still, I hope to find out who made those pants. What a great photo.

Style Tip from Fantastic Man

Fantastic Man gives us a style tip for the month of November that helps with the trasition from Fall weather into the rougher realms of winter weather. We are heading into the weeks of unpredictability: Beatiful and moderate temps one day followed by rigid winds and temps the next, or even in the same day. If you spend a good deal of time out of doors during your commute or thru-out your day, it's important to be prepared.

I love the idea of bringing what is close to your body to the outside as with this pic featuring thermal body wear. Not to mention the boots (Church's).

Vita Nova by Jonathan Frantini

I have not read La Vita Nuova (The New Life) by Dante. However, I am curious as to the inspiration that the work may have had on Italian photographer Jonathan Frantini while he worked this shoot for GQ  Style Italia. Whatever the influence, the result is very rewarding. I love the simplicity of the styling and the use of depth and scale. The photos capture a sense of minor, or slight feeling of,  history.  See more from the shoot on Jonathan's website or Italian GQ Style.

Vman: Catch The Drift

Photographed by Benjamin Alexander Huseby and styled by  Jay Massacret  for the current issue of VMAN.

Cool Look. How could you not be warm with that coat? And the gloves almost seem to have a scaly texture, though I am sure they are wool...The pants are actually wetwear from Camaro of Austria.

Turtleneck by Duckie Brown

Ana Locking: Crimson Cool

This is like death by coolness and Brilliant Crimson.

Romain Kremer

SS 2010
This would be pretty functional if you were to remove the headgear. I like the contrast of the the slim waist to the billowy built in scarf like collar.

SS 2010
Too Cool. The glasses are also designed by Kremer

AW 2009
The jacket would work (if you wanted to be a bit less provacative) with a nice fitted tee or shirt underneath. Headgear is your choice.

Romain Kremer has very big ideas and I enjoy his work with form and the body.

Jose Duran: Inspired by Destruction

Jose Duran's new collection is inspired by massacre and destruction. It shows. There are lots of leggings thru the collection, which are great right now, though a can't tell if some are denim or not. Nonetheless,  I like this look for the shoulders and waist in the shirt. Very "sharp"

Johannes Faktotum: Strong, Simple, Inspired

Johannes Faktotum means "Jack-of-all-trades" and is a line started in Februrary of 2009 by Johanna Bloomfield. She has been designing menswear since 2002. The 09/10 AW collection is brilliant with such simplicity but strength. The 2010 SpringSummer collection is a bit lighter (fittingly) but one of my favorite things about the SS is the Steel Toed knee high boots that the looks are paired with. My favorite look from each collection are above.  I also dig the knee covers paired with the AW collection.

If it were possible, I would take the entire AW collection and it would become my "uniform" for the season. I enjoy it that much. It's so sharp.

Fabrice Lachant and Siv Stoldal

Fabrice Lachant has captured some great shots for a recent spread including the bw photo above featuring a coat by Balenciaga. The angle against the sky are a beautiful combo. While looking through Fabrice's SITE, I was again impressed with more of his work including the photo above. But, what I truly love about this second pic is the ZIP-UP. It's very creative and done by Siv Stoldal. I was first taken in by the color, but if you look closely, you can see that the jacket is comprised of pics of various articles of clothing. Fantastic. I love this jacket.

Simon Shilton in Hysteria Magazine

From Hysteria Magazine comes this look featuring the work of Simon Shilton. I do believe that the relationship between everyday clothes and military garb such as  "armor" is very interesting. There was a time when folks spent a great deal of their time wearing shields, head gear, and armor. Today's Service Members spend much of their time in fatigues and camo. The Study of the miliary vs. streetwear relationship is important and intriguing, yes?

Junichi Kikuchi photographed this look. See the full spread HERE in Hysteria 1.

Too Cool: Maximum Impact in Fantasticmag

This look was styled by Salem.  It's one of the best looks I have seen in awhile. So cool.

Vest by Greta Constantine
Kilt and face mask by Northbound Leather
Leggings by Gareth Pugh
Boots by John Fleuvog

The exaggerated collar of the vest is great and would actually function quite nicely in cold weather. The Jackson Pollock style leggings would work great on their own, but very nice with the asymmetric kilt.

The Layers of Tim Van Steenbergen

Tim Van Steengergen is a designer based in Antwerp, Belgium. When I look at his work, I think of the concept of a uniform for life with an emphasis on LIFE. Layerd up and ready for anything but with a very mellow approach and demeanor. Tim Van Steengergen's work is true artisanship. These are a few of my favorite looks and pieces. See the entire AW collection on the designers site.

Athletic pairings

I am becoming a big fan of pairing items that you normally would not do to give a surprise and sometimes dramatic effect. the Dior Homme Cardigan with the adidas shorts and the Reebok football pants with the Dior Jacket are prime examples. I may suggest placing a shirt under the jacket. But why not defy the logical and get some curious looks your way?

David Arnot took the photos for this shoot. See the full shoot HERE
