Fun w/ fashion by Acne and Shake Appeal

What I enjoy most about these pieces are their playful yet cool qualities. This boot by Acne, the Zweig, is the kind of piece that generates double takes. Many times, a hybrid idea such as this can lose it's charm, but these boots retain style in addition to the utilitarian component (they also come in dark brown).

The shirt by Shake Appeal, as part of their Autumn/Winter 2012 collection, says it all; it's a geeky-cheeky. I'm digging the overall look as well.

Custo Barcelona Spring/Summer 2013

Patterns and colors come bursting off the runway as part of Custo Barcelona's Spring/Summer 2013 collection. There's a good deal of vivid and booming pattern, color, and texture being used in fashion at the moment. This is good, but it's even better when fanciful creations actually obtain harmonious ground; Custo Barcelona has done just that, particularly with the darker graphics. Rxandy Capinpin for Status and Manilla Bulletin

Two striking pieces photographed by Rxandy Capinpin. The first is major headgear, styled by Red Mil for Status mag in the Philippines (shoot "East of Eden). The next is a white jacket, with sleeves featuring pyramid studs (shoot "One Directioner"), styled by Ryuji Shiomitsu.

"Masculine Mystery" in Dansk

Serving up Rhythm Nation realness--and I'm loving it. This is a shot by Stefan Zschernitz for Dansk Magazine, featuring pieces by Prada. What a coat: the waist right where I like it. The silhouette, including the hair, is right on with this look. See more of the shoot HERE on Morphosis.

David Delfin Spring/Summer 2013

Madrid based David Delfin is celebrating 10 years in fashion with his S/S 2013 collection. This is the piece I enjoy the most: a one-piece jumpsuit with an asymmetric zipper--going all the way up just one side of the garment. It's simple, it's cool, it's blue. "Chic Creep" on Fashionisto

Shot and groomed by Manu and Pascal, this shoot for Fashionisto, "Chic Creep," features one of the best haircuts/styles I've seen in some time. I enjoy the winged effect from the side the most. See more of the shoot, including a couple more hair styling choices HERE on Fashionisto.

"Doheny Drive" by Doug Inglish

Definitely some Brando being channeled in this Beverly Hills/Hollywood entitled set by Doug Inglish for Numero Homme China #5--"Doheny Drive." This is just a great shot with the chain, and a bit of a peek-a-boo shot underneath. See more of the shoot HERE on SissyDude.

Mike Quyen--Lookbook

Mike Quyen's look for "xquisite" I find very enjoyable. Mostly I'm taken by the use of safety pins to create the almost beehive or birds nest effect. And the cross on the collar gives it that kick of moody, Gothic depth. I can only imagine how long it took to create the piece. I've pinned safety pins to a jacket just at the collar before, and it took hours--but nothing close to the number it seems Mike used here. Well behaved dalmatian.

Hom Swimsuit

I'm enjoying this swimsuit by Hom--founded 1968 in Marseille--mostly due to my fondness for blue. The blue stripes are great. But what I also enjoy, at least as it is styled in this photo in Homme Style #4, is the length in the crotch from the torso, down, that creates a retro look. 10/10--"Only Young Once!" collection

When I think of designs that work to push the envelope while still being quite wearable, this is what I have in mind. 10/10 (ten out of ten) collection "Only Young Once!." I'm instinctively drawn to the geometric, asymmetric, as well as symmetric shapes and details . Yet, even while creating layers of interest via stacked and exaggerated affixes, the pieces aren't "bulky" or too big: they retain a streamlined, fitted feel and look. The pieces and looks have the blend I enjoy between edgy and urbane; past and future. This collection is simply speaking my language--I want these pieces for the stage, or perhaps as street armor. New Designer--Marta Torres

Marta Torres is evidently a student of Spanish designer, Ana Locking. This collection is the product of the class. But what I enjoy most is the collar on several of the tops. The accentuation via the choker-like piece is nice and it even looks as if the collar itself is detachable. The overall effect of the collection is one of a painterly, abstract take on a contemporary reflection on what a 60's vision of the future might have looked like. For me, I am a fan of the top button done-up with a piece of strong jewelry to highlight and embellish the conservative gesture. See more of Marta Torres' collection HERE.

All about the hair--hair envy you might say. You see, unfortunately, it's so hard to get such a sharp and edged look with curly hair like mine.

Like cleansing the palette, the white pieces in these two brilliant b/w shots by Philip Gay calm the eye. Roberto Cavalli shirt; Marc Jacobs pants--styled by Nik Piras. Los Vladimirovich Spring/Summer 2013

Los Vladimirovich--a collective fashion house--gives us their S/S 2013 collection featuring these jackets that I enjoy very much. The cropped jacket paired with the suspenders has the military vibe I like while the architectural details of the zip-up are engaging, almost like origami folds of paper. And the double zipper is a nice surprise. Both pieces have a positive stiffness representing a constructed strength--strong yet easy to wear. See more HERE.
