AMI--Spring 2012

When I first saw a couple looks from the AMI Spring 2012 collection, I had this intense sensation that everything would be alright. Pretensions aside--these are clothes that you can actually wear, feel comfortable in, but without having to give up on a sense of creativity in dress. I think the line, so far, seems to live up to the credo of "real clothes for real men." While these pics find models like Nicolas Ripoll wearing Ami pieces, the wears are truly for an everyday man--or I might say a guy who likes his clothes to work and speak for themselves without him having to fret over them so much, leaving room for other pursuits. Ami is a new line from designer Alexandre Mattiussi.

Uncommon Creatures S/S 2012

The last collection for Uncommon Creatures gave us gypsy inspired creations. For the Spring/Summer 2012 collection, Uncommon Creatures looks to the Pathan people of the Afghan and Pakistani mountains. Of course, such lives are spent--a great deal--outdoors. I'm enjoying the setting for the lookbook images as well as the draped head dresses and turban hats (created by hand by Mathilde Forster). See and read more HERE on this.hearts.on.fire.

 

Six Lee--First Collection 2012

Hong Kong-based designer, Six Lee, offers his first collection--We're All In the Dance. While he may design with the more slender of figures in mind, I do enjoy the uber cropped jackets and the layers. Dris Van Noten Jacket

Glorious embellishment with this jacket by Dries Van Noten. I enjoy the contrast between the gold embellishment on top of a simple, light-weight zip-up. They have managed to make the look come off as unique, cool, but without being garrish. See more HERE on Selectism.

Dazed Digital stops by Vintage Festival in London

Some folks can simply pull off vintage much better than others. Perhaps it is a state of mind that you need to complete the look--I might find it easier to strap on the suspenders. This look has vintage appeal, but there is definitely something contemporary about it in the details--most likely to do with the great diamond print on the tee. Matteo Molinari F/W 2011

I've always wanted a matador's jacket--traje de luces (suit of lights)--of my own. I suppose there is something slightly romantic about bullfighting and the life of toreros that I find appealing. Matteo Molinari's Fall/Winter 2011 collection takes some inspiration from the "suit of lights" that toreros wear in the ring--with the high-waist and short jacket. I'm also enjoying the slim black tie. Of course, Molinari has simplified the tradition with use of black and white as well as the idea of gender lines--but the Spanish influence is there. "The Boy's in Love" by Sean Patrick Watters

For the current issue #2 of theFashionisto (print), Sean Patrick Watters offers the editorial entitled "The Boy's in Love" featuring these two Burberry Prorsum A/W 11 jackets--which I posted on previously Here--with their sharp&sweeping cuts along with sleek&swelling proportions. I'm Enjoying the hair too.

Enjoying this sleeveless jacket by Ports 1961 for their S/S 2012 collection. I like for the fact that you don't see sleeveless jackets too often, but also because Ports retain a very simplistic approach to design--and the jacket looks good even with sleeves. Leather Goods in DT Lux

Spanish language mag, DT Lux, features a spread photographed by Juan Aldabaldetrecu using lots of leather accessories including the great correajes--belting--by Zegna. Behind the Scenes: Mugler SS 2012

Lots has been said about Mugler--mainly due to the personalities surrounding the label. But one of the most interesting facets of Mugler's most recent collection is the use of gleaming accessories throughout, as seen in this behind-the-scenes shot by Paolo Simi for LURVE magazine. A futuristic cool--lots of angles and color scales--not to mention some very interesting footwear. This from Juun J for the Korean designer's S/S 2012 collection--one of the more exciting collections this season. I'm also enjoying the use of the bracelets on-wrist.
